Friends of 
Highgate Wood Preston

The friends of Highgate Wood are committed to promoting the conservation and enhancement of Highgate Wood for the benefit of residents, visitors and wildlife. We encourage and facilitate greater use and enjoyment of the Wood by all.

 

In pursuance of this, the association will seek to:

 

1.    Protect and enhance the Wood, balancing the issues of wildlife, conservation and public access.

 

2.    Represent the views of the residents of Preston in matters concerning the Wood

 

3.    Form links and work co-operatively with the local authority, businesses, community groups, charities, schools and other appropriate organisations.

 

4.    Organise, host and fund events and activities within or associated with the Wood

 

5.    Complement other projects in Preston

 

6.    Provide, maintain or improve a public amenity in the vicinity of a landfill site, for the protection of the environment.

 

7.    Conserve or promote biological diversity through:

 

-       the provision, conservation, restoration or enhancement of a natural habitat; or

 

-       the maintenance or recovery of a species in its natural habitat,

 

-       on land or in water in the vicinity of a landfill site.

 

The association is non-political and non-sectarian, and shall operate without distinction of gender, ethnic background, age, disability, sexuality, religion, cultural or political beliefs.
